The game that started it all.
Project Zomboid was released in 2011 and it was a weird launch. It fell victim to one of the craziest game piracy hacks of all time. Soon after it was released, online pirates created gateway version that allowed them to download and update the game, free of charge. This went on for months until the game studio finally caved and released an open-source version.
Ten Years Later.
After a long hiatus, in which the game devs apparently “lost” the source code, we finally have new updates and new mods! This game pretty much started the whole zombie craze that’s still very much a thing. And with the new update, we have new graphics, new ai and a lot more!
You start out with nothing, or something if you have mods. And then you have to explore, fight, build, and survive. Eventually you will die, but you can create a new character in the same world and try again. This makes Project Zomboid a true Roguelike.
After learning how to play the game, you’ll be able to build just about anything, and do just about everything. But don’t count on ever really getting there. This game is HARD. Super duper Fruper Hard. But if you like that kind of thing, give it a try.
